Traveling to Beautiful Beaver Creek
Beaver Creek
combines old-world charm with modern-day luxury. The unique ambiance of Beaver Creek makes
it the perfect spot for family vacations or romantic getaways. A combination of chairlifts,
skiing and hiking trails create a village-to-village connection linking Beaver Creek Village
to nearby Bachelor Gulch Village and Arrowhead Resort. Due to the design of Beaver Creek's
village a large percentage of lodging properties are ski-in ski-out. Once owned by local
rancher, Willis Nottingham, the land that is now Beaver Creek was purchased by Vail Associates
in 1972. In 1980 Beaver Creek officially opened with four chairlifts, 28 runs, 425-skiable acres.
During that time a tennis bubble served as the base area lodge. In 1983 the ski area expanded
and incorporated Larkspur Bowl, which opened new expert and intermediate terrain. Since this
time, Beaver Creek has grown to include a high-end base area village with, spas, shops,
and restaurants. The Mountain itself was topped-off in 1997 with new Birds of Prey downhill
course, one of the steepest downhill courses in North America.
